Square Enix Aligns with Polygon for Symbiogenesis Launch

Square Enix Aligns with Polygon for Symbiogenesis Launch

Square Enix, the Japanese video game publisher known for iconic franchises like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Kingdom Hearts, has teamed up with Polygon to launch its Symbiogenesis project, an interactive Web3 NFT-based game set to go live in the spring. This game is a unique blend of digital collectibles and virtual adventure games, set in a mysterious floating continent. Players can explore the stories of different characters by owning digital collectible art that represents them.

In recent years, Square Enix has explored the Web3 arena through various initiatives. However, Symbiogenesis marks a significant milestone as it is the company’s first full-fledged game based on NFTs and its debut in-house project operating within the Ethereum ecosystem. The game’s turn-based gameplay is intertwined with the storyline, which evolves as players complete missions and either hold or trade NFTs.

Symbiogenesis, which was announced in November 2021, is a game that combines character NFTs with strategic game mechanics. Players who hold Character NFTs can create “replica NFTs” to share the story’s details with other players. It also empowers players to duplicate and trade digital art for their characters, allowing them to showcase their distinct narratives to fellow players while engaging in collective effort as a community to accomplish the mission.

Despite the game presenting multiple potential endings, only a trio of players who satisfy particular criteria will have the privilege to embark on the final “World Mission.” The outcome of this mission rests solely in the hands of these three chosen ones, as they hold the power to shape the narrative’s conclusion and ultimately decide the fate of the world and its inhabitants.

Polygon Network: The Best for Symbiogenesis and other Web3 Projects

Polygon Labs, the development and growth team for the Polygon network, will work with Square Enix on this exciting project. The Polygon blockchain network, known for its speed and scalability, makes it an excellent platform for building Web3 projects.

Square Enix’s decision to utilize the Polygon network for Symbiogenesis brings numerous benefits to the game and its players. Firstly, by leveraging Polygon’s fast and inexpensive transaction processing capabilities, players can experience quick, secure, and sustainable trades on the blockchain network. This means that users can focus on enjoying the game without worrying about slow transaction times or high gas fees that can hinder their gameplay experience.

Moreover, by using Polygon’s carbon-neutral status, Square Enix can ensure that Symbiogenesis operates in an eco-friendly manner. The network’s commitment to sustainability aligns with the growing demand for environmentally conscious technologies, making it an attractive option for game developers seeking to reduce their carbon footprint.

“Square Enix opted to tap into Polygon’s high transaction speeds, low gas fees, and overall user-friendliness to deliver this unique experience to Web3 fans,” game producer Naoyuki Tamate said in a press release.

Square Enix has continued to emphasize the opportunity it sees in the NFT space and invest in growing its Web3 efforts. With the launch of Symbiogenesis, Square Enix and Polygon are taking the first steps towards revolutionizing the gaming industry and paving the way for future developments in the world of Web3 gaming.
